Review: Colour Freedom Metallic Glory

Image from superdrug.com
I have tried so many different products over the last few years in an attempt to maintain my silver blonde hair. I had seen this permanent dye from Colour Freedom doing the rounds on Instagram. If any of you have silver hair you will know that it is far from permanent and takes so much time and effort to maintain the colour you want.
I decided to purchase the dye, which is exclusive to Superdrug, and give it a go. It comes in a range of different shades.
- Silver Blonde
- Silver Grey
- Graphite Grey
-Stone Grey
-Metallic Black

I opted for Silver Grey because I had read some review saying the Silver Blonde hadn't made any difference to the hair. However, it all depends on the base colour we are starting with. Mine was platinum blonde from bleach and silver shampoo so I did have a very light base to start with. I mixed the colour and developer together and applied to my hair from root to tip. It took me quite a while to ensure all my hair was covered but one box was enough for my longish hair. It said on the instructions to leave to develop for 25mins. After around 15mins my hair was looking black, so I panicked and headed straight to the shower to wash it off. It was very dark and I wasn't expecting it to take that well to my hair. Once it was dry it didn't look as dark but it was a big change from my platinum hair.

First impressions are good. For a box dye I think the colour is amazing. It is just like the colour on the box but I totally didn't have high expectations. I have now washed my hair a few times since the application and it has faded a bit. But I like it better as it is now not such a dark grey and more of a silver.

I would say that for anyone wanting to achieve grey hair this product is the way forward. the darker colours can be used on dark hair to give you a grey tint and metallic shine, but if you were wanting to be silver then you would have to pre lighten your hair first. Please be careful when working with bleach not to over process your hair and if you can, seek professional help from a salon.

Overall I am very impressed with this dye and I can't imagine that I could have got a better colour if I had gone to a salon. With grey and silver shades it has only been possible to achieve the colour using toners, but these wash out within a few washes and the up keep can be costly. This dye cost me £7.99 and I am very happy with the result.

Keep up to date with the colour on my instagram cosmetic.treasures to see how long the colour lasts.

Current Makeup Favourites

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water
I have been absolutely loving this product and I don't think I have gone a single day without using it. I bought this back in January and I have only just gone out to purchase a new one so it has lasted me a good 4 Months. I mist this on to my skin before applying my foundation. What I like about this is the spray. It is so easy to use and so much quicker than a cream product. I find that it keeps my makeup in place for longer and it can also be applied after make up as a setting spray.

Tartelette In Bloom Palette
This is a beautiful palette with both matte and shimmer shades. The colours are so easy to wear and you can create anything from a natural day look to a heavier, darker evening look. The shadows are so soft and smooth and blend so nicely. This palette has currently replaced my Naked 2 which I never thought I would be able to part with. I am loving it.

NYX Lip Lingerie - Corset
Everybody is loving a matte liquid lipstick at the moment! This little beauty from NYX comes in so many different nude colours. The one I have is Corset and it almost seems to be slightly grey toned when on the lips. It applies so creamy and smooth and almost instantly dries to a matte finish. For £6 I think it is a really great product. It saves us all trying to get hold of the Kylie Lip Kits and paying ridiculous custom charges. I will stick to NYX for now.

Soap & Glory Highlight and Sculpt Cheek Stick - Ice Shimmer
I believe that these new products from Soap and Glory are dupes for the Nars Multiples. I sweep the stick along my cheek bone and use the heat of my fingers to blend it in. This gives a really nice champagne shimmer to the skin. I have never really used cream highlighters in the past but I have really been liking the glow that I get from this and for such a great price.

What products can you not currently live without?

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette

I received this little beauty for Christmas and I have literally been using it every day since. I love the packaging, it is quite chunky but I like that is more of a shorter rectangle than the naked palettes. It has a lovely big mirror inside the lid with 'Magic's in the Makeup' printed in the bottom corner. It adds a lovely touch. The colours are incredible, having recently been very attached to my smoky palette I am finding that the much lighter nude colours in this palette work very well with the darker smoky colours to create a more dramatic eye look. The palette has 15 shadows with 12 of them being brand new ones. The colours range from mattes to satins to shimmery shades and they blend so nicely. I have always been the biggest fan of Urban Decay's eyeshadow formulas anyway, they seem to work amazing for me. I love that the palette is quite neutral and then there is the pink and blue shade to add a touch of colour. It is those shades that give it the Gwen Stefani feel. I know this palette will be part of my daily routine for a long time because you can create anything from a subtle shimmery eye to a heavy night time look.

What is your current favourite palette? I'm sure I can find room for one more in my collection.

Anastasia Dip Brow

I recently bought the Anastasia Beverley Hills DipBrow Pomade and I am obsessed. Previously, the only product I have used to fill in my brows has been an eyeshadow from my Urban Decay Naked palette. This new product makes such a difference. My brows look so much sharper and neater and the colour lasts all day. I have platinum/silver blonde hair so I chose the Taupe shade as it has an ashy tone to it. At first I did find it difficult to work with because it is so different to a powder, but now it is my favourite product in my makeup bag. You can be very precise with the application of colour and it is very easy to build up the colour you want. When first applied the product looks almost satin but it soon dries to have a matte finish. I am looking forward to trying this product out on holiday and seeing how good the waterproof and transfer proof formula is in a hotter climate than England in December.

This is definitely my favourite step in my daily make up routine now. I absolutely love everything about it and for £15 I think it is worth every penny! Thanks Anastasia.
